Getting There

Team Building in Khao Sok Thailand

Khao Sok park is easily reached from either Surat Thani (located to the east) or from Phuket (to the South). Despite it’s convenient location, Khao Sok is often passed-over by many tourists who are more inclined to travel to the easily recognisable popular resort areas. This works in the favour of this beautiful park as it ensures there are not crowds of people and the area can be enjoyed peacefully in all of its unspoiled natural splendour.

Weather in Khao Sok

Hot Season (March to May)

In Bangkok and more northern parts of Thailand, the weather in the hot season (March to May) can be extremely hot .

In the south, however, the cool sea breezes and lush rainforest vegetation combine to cool things down, you'll generally find that even during the hot season, the weather in Khao Sok and the other southern seaside destinations is much more pleasant.

This season is also relatively dry, so jungle trekking, elephant riding and other outdoor activities are widely available. Wildlife spotting is also usually more rewarding at this time of year.

The jungle can be very humid at this time of year, so jungle trekkers should remember to drink plenty of water and take frequent rests.

Rainy Season (June to October)

This, in some ways, is the best time to visit Khao Sok & Chieow Laan Lake. During the months of June through to October, the rainforest is at it's most lush and beautiful and the many waterfalls are at their most magnificent.

The temperature is at it's mildest during this time of year, with days that feelcomfortably warm and nights which are generally cooler.

For those looking for some thrills, this is the perfect time of year for canoeing and inner tubing on the Klong Sok River and also for relaxing and experiencing the rainforest atmosphere at one of the floating rafthouses on Chieow Laan Lake. Elephant trekking is also available.

Due to high rain levels, jungle trekking can be a slippery and slow process, and cave exploration may unfortunately not be an option due to the high water levels in and around the caves.

Dry Season (November to February)

The dry season (November to February) is also the peak tourist season in Thailand and for good reason. The weather is generally both cooler than in the hot season and dryer than in the rainy season.

Jungle trekking, caving and elephant riding are all very popular options. The giant Rafflesia flower also blooms during this time and you must try and get a photo with one of these giants of nature.

Water levels in the Klong Sok River are usually quite low, so inner tubing and canoeing on the river may not be available. Should this be the case, canoeing at Chieow Laan Lake is available all year round.
