Team Building with Siemens
We recently had the pleasure of working with the Siemens Company when we hosted a team building event on Koh Samui, Thailand. Siemens were partaking in a 5 day MICE travel function with employees from all over Asia. During this time Making Teams organized and coordinated a team building event followed by a dinner on one of Thailand's most beautiful beaches.
Four Wheel Drive Treasure Hunt Race, Koh Samui, Thailand
The Siemens MICE travel group, consisting of 60 participants, was split into 7 teams of around 8 people per team. The event began with a briefing at the group's hotel and next, each team nominated a leader who was given a map, questions, instructions and the rules for the team building event. Teams then planned their strategies for the treasure hunt; deciphering the clues, locating destinations and mapping a course around Koh Samui.
Each team was now ready for the treasure hunt and eager to show their colleagues up and win the team building challenge. Starting from Chaweng beach at the Regent Hotel, each team set out on their own course through Koh Samui. During the treasure hunt, teams visited some of Koh Samui's most beautiful and well known destinations; Big Buddha, The Mummified Monk, a Buffalo Fighting Stadium, The Secret Buddha Garden, Buddha's Footprint, Namuang Waterfall and Wat Plai Laem. Each of these locations held an answer to one of the riddles. The final stop took the competing teams to Koh Samui's most famous grandmother and grandfather (which are interestingly shaped rock formations to say the least). Teams then proceeded for a short walk over massive rocks, through dense jungle and across golden beaches. The walk ended at Ta Yai Hut, a splendid restaurant on a beautiful Koh Samui beach with a magnificent view of the ocean and surrounding islands.
Team building participants enjoyed some light refreshments upon their arrival to Ta Yai Hut, relaxing in view of a Koh Samui sunset after their treasure hunt adventure. Many were reviewing and discussing as to what went right and what went wrong, whose tactics and strategies were more effective, those who claimed to have no luck and those who were sure they'd won. All were sharing their experiences whilst waiting for their barbeque dinner, Thailand style. Dinner was a delicious treat serving up barramundi, prawns, chicken and vegetarian skewers, Thai curries, soups, salads, fruits and much more. All cooked with the Thailand touch. Making Teams also arranged for local Thai musician to attend the barbeque and play traditional Thai music while people ate. Towards the end of the feast the points were totaled, winners were announced and prizes awarded. Those present then partook in a Thailand tradition. All participants released their own Thai sky lantern from the beach. It was a spectacular sight, seeing 60 sky lanterns, with candles burning, high into the sky with a bright and starry Koh Samui night as a background. The night then concluded with a fireworks display before all were returned by jeep to the Regent Hotel.
From all sources a good time was had by all. A fun and adventurous way to see the amazing sights and features of Koh Samui and a wonderful way to experience an evening, Koh Samui style. The manager of Siemens thanked Making Teams for a successful and enjoyable team building event. Making Teams looks forward to working with Siemens again in the future.
